(FILES) -- File picture dated 24 February 2005 shows Syrian Deputy Foriegn Minister Walid Muallem addressing the media in Damascus. Long-serving Syrian Foreign Minister Faruq al-Shara was named as vice president 11 February 2006, state news agency SANA reported, replacing Abdul Halim Khaddam, branded a traitor by Damascus.
