US-JUSTICE-BRUCIA-SMITH-DEATH PENALTY
Patricia Davis (C), mother of Joseph Smith, is helped out of the courtroom by Smith-s sister, Rena, after the sentence of death was read for Joseph Smith at the Judge Lynn N. Silvertooth Judicial Center 15 March, 2006, in Sarasota, Florida. Circuit Court Judge Andrew Owens upheld the jury-s recommendation of death for Smith, who was convicted of the abduction, rape, and murder of 11-year-old Brucia in February of 2004.
