US and Filipino soldiers unload hospital beds and medical supplies from a commercial vessel at a local wharf in Parang town in southern Jolo island 22 June 2006. The shipment of medical equipment and supplies are part of US donations to a local hospital in the war torn island following the recent visit of the US Navy floating hospital USNS Mercy. The US military hospital ship conducted a medical mission to Muslim residents that is part of the military, economic and humanitarian aid to the southern Philippine island where Filipino troops are battling Islamic militants linked with al-Qaeda terror network.
