IRAQ-UNREST-MINES
A young Kurdish mine victim walks 08 August 2006 in the northern village of Sidakan, near the Iranian border. Some 10 to 12 million different mines which date from the 1980-1988 Iraq-Iran war, are still prevalent in many Kurdish villages, where they cause fatal injuries to the population. Gunmen attacked Iraqi mine disposal experts in Kolajo, 180 km south of Sulaimania, said local government official Sardar Mohammed. AFP PHOTO/Safin HAMED
