LEBANON-MIDEAST-ISRAEL-UNREST
A Lebanese Red Cross member carries an injured woman on a stretcher 08 August 2006 after she was rescued from under the rubble of a building targeted a day before by an Israeli air strike in the southern village of Ghaziye, three kms south of the southern Lebanese port city Sidon. Israel cautiously welcomed Beirut-proposed changes to a UN resolution on ending the nearly month-old Lebanon war today, but ordered its army to prepare for an expanded ground offensive if diplomatic efforts fail.
