US-KATRINA ANNIVERSARY-NOLA-HOMES
After taking one last look at the house, Mike Schorr (L) leads his mother Kathleen Schorr away from the home of his brother Dennis Schorr 10 August 2006 in the Lakeview section of New Orleans. A crew from the Army Corps of Engineers prepares to demolish the house in an effort to improve levees along the 17th Street Canal, which flooded almost one year ago when rising waters following Hurricane Katrina burst the levee wall behind their home. The Army Corps is demolishing more than 14 homes along the levee, although property owners have yet to be compensated and were not given the option to refuse the demolition. AFP PHOTO/Robyn BECK
