NIGER-CHAD-POLITICS
Nomad Usman Habert tries to fold his matress in preparation to move away from the Woudi desert Camp following threat of expulsion by the Niger authorities, 28 October, 2006. Meanwhile, the Niger authorities have suspended the decision to expel over 100,000 nomadic Mahamid Arabs alleged illegal immigrants to neighbouring Chad accused of wrong doing in the border region of Diffa, following intervention of neighbouring countries sharing borders with it. One consequence of the on-and-off expulsion has been the death of two small girls who perished this week from thirst and were buried in the sand dunes of the desert.
