NIGER-CHAD-POLITICS
A motorcyclist heads toward the main gate of the town of Diffa in Niger 29 October 2006. The Niger government threatened 26 October 2006 to expel over 100,000 alleged illegal immigrants, nomadic Mahamid Arabs, charged with formenting trouble in the region of Diffa, but suspended its decision following pressures from neighbouring countries. But indigenes of the region are protesting the sudden change of heart and therefore urging the authories to go ahead with its earlier plan to expel the refugees promising showdown with the nomads if allowed to remain in the country.
