MEXICO-OAXACA-UNREST
Students from the Autonomous University of Oaxaca and members of the Oaxaca People's Popular Assembly (APPO) take part in a march against governor Ulises Ruiz, in Oaxaca, 08 November 2006. After five months of violent protests, the turbulence which started with a teachers' strike demanding higher wages, shows no sign of letting up. Ruiz, who recently fled the hostile environment to Mexico City and visits Oaxaca briefly once a week, insists he will not step down even though both houses of Congress urged him to do so last week in non-binding resolutions.
