CHILE-PINOCHET-DECEASE
A supporter of former Chilean dictator (1973-90) gen. Augusto Pinochet cries at the news that he died, 10 December, 2006 outside the Military Hospital, in Santiago. Pinochet, 91, died 10 December at the hospital where he was admitted a week ago following a heart attack. Pinochet, whose brutal 17 year rule was a potent symbol of Latin American military repression, had long evaded efforts to bring him to justice for the torture and deaths of thousands during his rule.
