FRANCE-COLOMBIA-BETANCOURT
Daughter of the kidnapped Colombian presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt, Melanie, is pictured during a meeting in support of her mother, 19 February 2007 in Paris'townhall. Betancourt, now 45, was abducted on February 23, 2002 along with her running mate Clara Rojas, by the left-wing FARC as she was campaigning in the south of the country. The freedom committee for the kidnapped Colombian presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt rejected 31 January 2007 the military rescue of a former Colombian minister, saying such operations were highly dangerous.
