FRANCE-COLOMBIA-BETANCOURT
(From L) Daughter of the kidnapped Colombian presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt, Melanie, the former husband of Ingrid Betancourt, Fabrice Delloye, and their son Lorenzo, give a press conference, 23 February 2007 in Paris. As Ingrid Betancourt starts the fifth year of her detention, her family is not sure her star status among hundreds of hostages held by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and other extremist groups is a good thing. "Clearly this does not help her," said Melanie Betancourt, one of the hostage's two daughters. "There are other prisoners who are not called Ingrid Betancourt and have been held for years. The most painful part of all this is to read in the newspapers that we are only fighting for her when we are using our voices for all the hostages." AFP PHOTO MARTIN BUREAU
