LATVIA-ESTONIA-RIGHTS-EU-SUMMIT
Estonian minister of Foreign Affairs Urmas Paet listens to his Latvian counterpart Artis Pabriks(L) during their meeting held in Sigulda, 18 May 2007. Both officials dismissed as untrue, hackneyed rhetoric accusations by Russian President Vladimir Putin that the two Baltic states violate the rights of ethnic Russians. The three Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania were occupied by the Soviet Union from the close of World War II until 1991. Since that year, Moscow has repeatedly accused Estonia and Latvia of violating the rights of their still substantial Russian-speaking minorities. AFP PHOTO/ILMARS ZNOTINS
