LATVIA-ESTONIA-RIGHTS-EU-SUMMIT
Estonian Minister of Foreign Affairs Urmas Paet (R), his Latvian counterpart Artis Pabriks (C) and Lithuanian counterpart Petras Vaitekunas are pictured during their meeting in Sigulda, 18 May 2007. Paet and Pabriks dismissed as untrue, hackneyed rhetoric accusations by Russian President Vladimir Putin that the two Baltic states violate the rights of ethnic Russians. The three Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania were occupied by the Soviet Union from the close of World War II until 1991. Since that year, Moscow has repeatedly accused Estonia and Latvia of violating the rights of their still substantial Russian-speaking minorities. AFP PHOTO/ILMARS ZNOTINS
