Angelica and her mother Ana, who have been in Belgium for four years without regularisation, were supposed to be deported to Ecuador 30 July, but a judge ordered their immediate release after the mother claimed that she was mistreated during her deportation.The Ecuadoran foreign affairs ministry announced soon after that it would lodge a formal protest with Belgium on "the fact that the bad physical and psychological treatment to which our compatriots were subjected is unacceptable and represents a violation of international human rights agreements".
