Ecuadorian Ana Cajamarca attends a press conference after she and her daughter Ana were freed by court order on Monday after being held for a month in a closed detention centre pending repatriation, at their lawyers office, in Brussels, 31 July 2007. Angelica and her mother Ana, who have been in Belgium for four years without regularisation, were supposed to be deported to Ecuador 30 July, but a judge ordered their immediate release after the mother claimed that she was mistreated during her deportation. The Ecuadoran foreign affairs ministry announced soon after that it would lodge a formal protest with Belgium on "the fact that the bad physical and psychological treatment to which our compatriots were subjected is unacceptable and represents a violation of international human rights agreements".
