Nada Nissan(R) and her sister-in-law Wahida Nissan prepare supper in Wahida's home in Sterling Heights, Michigan 31 August, 2007, days after Nada's family arrived in the United States from Turkey where her family spent 5 years as refugees after fleeing Iraq. The Nissans are among 83 Iraqi refugees who arrived in the Detroit area last month as part of a promised surge aimed at bringing 7,000 of the estimated 4.2 million people displaced by the war in Iraq to the United States.
