Lebanese anti-Syrian politician Nassib Lahoud, gestures during his press conference in which he announced his candidacy to the forthcoming presidential elections in Beirut, 13 September 2007. Lahoud's step came as foreign envoys are flocking to Beirut to try and break a political deadlock that threatens to scuttle a looming presidential election and plunge Lebanon into further chaos.
