A picture released by the US Military 02 November 2007 shows a US soldier with A Company, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, pulling security during a patrol in Baquba in the Diyala Province northeast of Baghdad, 26 October 2007. US and Iraqi forces launched 05 November 2007 a massive assault in four provinces of Iraq targeting Al-Qaeda fighters, the US military said. The military statement did not name the provinces but said the operation was in northern Iraq. US forces' northern command has troops in provinces such as Salaheddin, Nineveh, Kirkuk and Diyala.
