VENEZUELA-COLOMBIA-FARC-HOSTAGES
A man rides his bike in the border of the states of Tachira and Barinas (southwestern Venezuela) 23 December, 2007. Last Tuesday the FARC announced they would free hostage Clara Rojas, along with her son Emmanuel, who was born in captivity to her and a rebel father, and lawmaker Consuelo Gonzalez de Perdomo. FARC said they will turn the three hostages over to Chavez, who had been officially negotiating a release or swap until Colombian president Alvaro Uribe stopped those talks amid accusations Chavez broke protocol. The release of the three hostages could happen to take place somewhere in this region. AFP PHOTO/ Pedro REY
