VENEZUELA-COLOMBIA-FARC-HOSTAGES
A soldier stands guard at the entrance of Venezuelan army's Theater of Operations Number One in Guasdualito, state of Apure, border with Colombia, 23 December, 2007, where the release of three hostages by the Colombian FARC could happen to take place. Last Tuesday the FARC announced they would free hostage Clara Rojas, along with her son Emmanuel, who was born in captivity to her and a rebel father, and lawmaker Consuelo Gonzalez de Perdomo. FARC said they will turn the three hostages over to Chavez, who had been officially negotiating a release or swap until Colombian president Alvaro Uribe stopped those talks amid accusations Chavez broke protocol.
