Cypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos lays a wreath during a handover ceremony in Nicosia on February 5, 2008 for the remains of 10 Greek soldiers killed during the 1974Turkish invasion of Cyprus. The Greek side of the divided east Mediterranean island held a solemn sendoff today for the bodies of the soldiers as they were finally returned home after a major forensic operation. The soldiers were among 100 Greek troops killed in action when Turkish forces seized Cyprus's northern third in response to an Athens-engineered coup seeking to unite the island with Greece.
