NORWAY-ARCTIC-ENVIRONMENT-WARMING-CROPS

Dr. Carry Fowler, the Executive Director of the Global Crop Diversity Trust, pictured inside the Global Seed Vault on February 24, 2008 in Longyearbyen. The Seed vault has been built in a mountainside cavern on the island of Svalbard, around 1000 km from the North Pole, to store the world's crop seeds in case of a disaster. Aimed at providing mankind with a Noah's Ark of food in the event of a global catastrophe, an Arctic "doomsday vault" filled with samples of the world's most important seeds will be inaugurated here Tuesday.
