US-PORN-INDUSTRY-HIV
Adult film actresses hold hands at a press conference held by AIM (Adult Industry Medical) HealthCare Foundation concerning the outbreak of the HIV virus in the pornographic entertainment industry 22 April 2004 in Los Angeles. The state-s multi-billion dollar pornography industry is in a voluntary 60-day moratorium following the infection of two porn stars with the HIV virus. California and Los Angeles county officials say that the outbreak gives them leverage to force changes in the adult-film industry which prides itself on self-regulation of the health of its actors. After testing more than two dozen people the actors came into sexual contact with, AIM announced that no additional transmissions of HIV from these cases is expected. AIM provides the required STD testing and treatment, as well as healthcare and other support, for southern California adult industry actors and models.
