INDIA-ECONOMY-TRANSPORT
An Indian labourer paints a section of railway track at the entrance to a tunnel which goes through The Baramura Hills, some 50km east of Agartala on June 14, 2008. The remote state of Tripura in India's north-east is set to be connected with India’s huge rail network more than six decades after the country attained independence. The Indian railway authorities have fixed June 30, to conduct a trial run of a train on the new line. Indian officials say some 105 rail staff have died of disease and militant attacks in the five years that the track has taken to be laid through Tripura’s dense forests, steep hills and terrains.
