IRAQ-US-SAHWA
Abud Qambar, commander of the Baghdad military operations, speaks with Shiite Muslim Sahwa member Abu Ahmed al-Sudani in charge of the Sabaa al-Bor area north of Baghdad prior to a meeting with other members of the Sahwa (Awakening) -- whose armed members are former insurgents recruited to fight Al-Qaeda in Iraq and paid by the US military-, in Baghdad's secure 'Green Zone' on September 11 2008. A meeting headed by Mohammed Salman the chairman of the Committee for the Implementation of National Reconciliation, along with several high ranking Iraqi Army officers and members of the Sahwa was held to discuss the issue of salaries to the Sahwa who are currently on the US military pay roll.
