LATVIA-BALTIC NATO-SCHEEFFER
NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer (R) walks to a meeting with Baltic foreign ministers Maris Riekstins (C) of Latvia and Urmas Paet of Estonia (R) in Riga on September 12, 2008. Scheffer held talks with foreign ministers from the Baltic states, amid growing concern there about Russia's actions in Georgia. The Baltic states joined NATO and the European Union in 2004 and have pressed fellow members to get tough with Russia over Georgia.
