LATVIA-BALTIC NATO-SCHEEFFER
NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer (L) chats with Latvian Foreign Minister Maris Riekstins in Riga on September 12, 2008. Scheffer held talks with foreign ministers from the Baltic states, amid growing concern there about Russia's actions in Georgia. The Baltic states joined NATO and the European Union in 2004 and have pressed fellow members to get tough with Russia over Georgia.
