PHILIPPINES-STOCKS
An investor reacts as he stands in front of the electronic monitor showing a downturn graph of stock prices during the morning trading at the Philippine Stock Exchange in the financial district of Makati suburban Manila, 11 May 2004. Philippine share prices closed 2.99 percent lower Tuesday, with the market catching up with the heavy sell-off seen 10 May in the region on concerns over the outlook for global interest rates, dealers said. They said the local downturn was made worse as investors fretted over the outcome of Monday-s presidential elections here, when the market was closed. The Philippines Stock Exchange composite index lost 46.43 points at 1,508.26, its lowest level in three weeks. AFP PHOTO/TED ALJIBE
