BOLIVIA-REFERENDUM-MORALES
The President of Bolivia Evo Morales Ayma (L) promulgates the congress's law calling a referendum on a new constitution before thousands of supporters at Murillo square in front of the presidential palace in La Paz on October 21, 2008. Morales promulgated the congress's law calling the referendum that will be held January 25, within an hour of it being passed by more than the required two-thirds of legislators in a bid to calm a protracted political crisis. If the revised constitution is passed, it would put a limit on the size of land holdings and distribute more of the nation's revenues to the mostly poor indigenous majority from which Morales himself hails.
