FRANCE-EDUCATION-PROTEST
A child takes part in a protest on November 20, 2008 in Strasbourg eastern France, on a national teachers' striking day. Under a recent law, mayors have to provide children care services in case of strike in public services. Teachers demonstrate today as close to 20,000 jobs were slashed in 2007 and 2008 under President Nicolas Sarkozy's plan to trim the civil service by not replacing many of the retiring employees.
