IRAQ-US-UNREST-MARINES
US Marines display rocket propelled grenades (RPG) that were handed over by the residents of the restive Sunni city of Fallujah, west Baghdad at the Fallujah Liaison Team Building 20 May 2004. The handing of weapons was a part of a deal between US Marines and insurgents to end a one month of bloody battles in the war-torn city. At the occasion General James Mattis dismissed claims that 40 people killed in western Iraq were wedding guests, insisting that those targeted were men of military age camped out in the desert.
