IRAQ-US-UNREST-MARINES

The secretary-s visit was partly designed to give him a taste of everyday life in the combat zone in which Marines and Sailors are serving. More than 40 people were killed in a US air strike on a suspected safe house used by foreign fighters near the Iraqi-Syrian border, coalition officials. Residents of the western desert town of Qaim on the Syrian border said US helicopters targeted a wedding party, apparently after people had fired in the air, a traditional way to celebrate in the Arab world.
