Former leader of banned Basque party Batasuna, Arnaldo Otegi (C), addresses journalists after leaving the Basque Country court on January 8, 2009, in the northern Spanish Basque city of Bilbao, where he attended his trial. The president of the Basque regional government, Juan Jose Ibarretxe, the leader of Basque Socialist Party Patxi Lopez, and PSE member Rodolfo Ares are charged with meeting Arnaldo Otegi and other representatives of the banned political wing of the armed separatist group ETA, Batasuna.
