BULGARIA-FRANCE-MITTERRAND-DISSIDENTS-RE-ENACTION
Bulgarian journalists record on January 19, 2009 the speech of former French President Francois Mitterrand, which he delivered in Sofia 20 years ago at the French Embassy. Twelve of the best-known Bulgarian intellectuals, opposing the Communist regime of Todor Zhivkov during that period, met with Mitterrand on January 19, 1989 to have talks over an informal breakfast. Bulgarian dissident movement, braving a tough communist regime, received the spectacular support of Mitterrand, who publicized its cause abroad twenty years ago.
