CORRECTION-FRANCE-GUADELOUPE-FINANCE-ECONOMY-STRIKE
Members of LKP (collective union regrouping trade-unions, associations and political organizations) enter the office of the court president Elisabeth Blanc (R) without a prior meeting to express their concern, on February 9, 2009 in Pointe-a-Pitre (Guadeloupe)after a street demonstration against the high cost of living, for better pay and employment. France's Caribbean island of Guadeloupe has been on a general strike for over two weeks, with shops, schools and public transport shut down and half-a-million residents facing food shortages. Demonstrations also took place today in the neighbouring island of Martinique. At left is Patrice tacita from LKP.
