NETHERLANDS-MIDEAST-CONFLICT-NGO-GEUZENPENNING
Israelian and Palestinian flags fly in the town of Vlaardingen on March 13, 2009 after the Netherlands' prestigious human rights prize, the Geuzenpenning, was handed to Jessica Montell, a representive of the Israeli organisation B'Tselem, and Wesam Achmad, a representive of the Palestinian human rights organisation, Al-Haq, whose director, Shawan Jabarin is absent due to a travel ban. Both organisations keep a record of violations of human rights. The Geuzenpenning refers to two periods in Dutch history when men and women sacrificed their lives in the fight against oppression.
