This file picture shows a Sudanese woman pumping drinking water from a recently drilled borehole in the village of Mirindanyi, some 190 kms (120 miles) west of Juba, the capital of semi-autonomous southern Sudan, on January 22, 2009. Around 20,000 people are expected to attend the Fifth World Water Forum in the Turkish city of Istanbul, starting on March 16, 2009 where a charged agenda awaits them. From 16 to 22 March, the Fifth World Water Forum will host around 20 000 water stakeholders to find solutions to attain sustainable water use. The European Regional Session will highlight Europe's activities on the major themes of the European Regional Process, including Climate Change and Adaptation, Water Scarcity and Droughts, Finance, Sanitation and River Basin Management and Transboundary Cooperation. The Forum, held only every three years, has been foreshadowed by a report issued by a constellation of UN agencies. AFP PHOTO/PETER MARTELL
