CORRECTION-AUSTRALIA-CHINA-SHIPPING-ENVIRONMENT
CORRECTING DATE TAKEN
Handout photo taken and released by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority on April 14, 2010 shows broken coral in the Douglas Shoals area of Australia's Great Barrier Reef, caused by the Chinese bulk coal-carrying ship 'Sheng Neng 1' which ran aground on April 3, 2010. Leaked oil from a Chinese ship which spent nine days grounded on the Great Barrier Reef has washed up at an important animal sanctuary, officials said. Clean-up crews and environmental experts headed to North West Island, a haven for seabirds and turtles, where clumps of oil have spread over about one kilometre (half-a-mile) of beach, marine safety authorities said.
