(FILES) Street signs February 10, 2009 outside the New York Stock Exchange. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell sharply in early trades on May 4, 2010, falling below the 11,000 point mark amid fears about the health of the eurozone. Thirty minutes after the open the Dow fell 143.52 points (1.29 percent) recouping some earlier losses to stand at 11,008.31.
The Nasdaq composite was up 52.12 points (2.09 percent) to 2,446.62 and the Standard & Poor's 500 index was down 17.95 points (1.49 percent) to 1,184.31. AFP PHOTO/Stan Honda/ FILES
