FILES-ANTARCTICA-AUSTRALIA-JAPAN-WHALING
(FILES) This handout photo received and taken on January 6, 2010 from the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society shows the Sea Shepherd's ship Ady Gil (bottom), a wave-piercing boat formerly known as "Earthrace", after its collision with a Japanese whaling vessel Shonan Maru No. 2 (background) in Antarctic waters. Australian authorities on May 8, 2010 said they had been unable to determine who was to blame for the sinking of the superboat during clashes between Japanese whalers and militant activists off Antarctica. The Australian Maritime Safety Authority said Japan's refusal to cooperate with its investigation had made it impossible to draw any firm conclusions about who was responsible for the collision which destroyed the New Zealand-flagged trimaran Ady Gil.
