FRANCE-PEOPLE-DEATH-BIGEARD
(FILES) A picture taken on January 30, 1976 in Toulon, southern France shows French General Marcel Bigeard sitting at the control of an "Alize" military plane during his visit of the French aircraft carrier Clemenceau. Born in 1916, General Bigeard is considered one the most decorated soldier in France who fought in World War II, Indochina, and Algeria. After resigning from the army in 1976, Bigeard entered politics becoming a deputy for the region Meurthe-et-Moselle, and served as a minister in the government of Valery Giscard d''Estaing.
