FRANCE-POLITICS-CORRUPTION-TRIAL-CHIRAC
Paris' public prosecutor Jean-Claude Marin arrives at Paris courthouse for the opening hearing of France's former President Jacques Chirac's trial, on March 7, 2011. Chirac, 78, has to face corruption charges, accused of using public money to pay people working for his party while he was mayor of Paris between 1977 and 1995, but the whole proceeding could come to a halt once again, if the of one of his co-defendants succeeds in getting a procedural element of the case referred upwards to France's constitutional court. Marin will testify today before court to explain why he required in 2009 to discontinue charges against Chirac. AFP PHOTO JACQUES DEMARTHON
