HAITI-US-HEALTH-USNS-COMFORT
Medical officers from the US Navy hospital ship USNS Comfort provide medical care and humanitarian assistance to Hatians in Varreux, Port-au-Prince, in Haiti on August 19, 2011. The USNS Comfort has been on a five-month humanitarian mission as part of the U.S. Navy’s Continuing Promise 2011 exercise. To date, the ship has provided medical care and humanitarian assistance to eight countries in the Caribbean, Central, and South America. Port-au-Prince is the USNS Comfort’s ninth and final stop of this mission. In collaboration with the Haitian Ministry of Health, the USNS Comfort offered medical, dental, and veterinary care to the people of Haiti. AFP PHOTO / Thony BELIZAIRE.
