HAITI-US-HEALTH-USNS-COMFORT
International military medical officer base in Haiti helps Haitians lineup to receive medical care and humanitarian assistance from the US Navy hospital ship USNS Comfort during US Navy’s Continuing Promise 2011 exercise in Varreux, Port-au-Prince, in Haiti on August 19, 2011. The USNS Comfort has been on a five-month humanitarian mission as part of the US Navy’s Continuing Promise 2011 exercise. To date, the ship has provided medical care and humanitarian assistance to eight countries in the Caribbean, Central, and South America. Port-au-Prince is the USNS Comfort’s ninth and final stop of this mission. In collaboration with the Haitian Ministry of Health, the USNS Comfort offered medical, dental, and veterinary care to the people of Haiti. AFP PHOTO / Thony BELIZAIRE.
