BOSNIA-WAR-CRIMES-REMEMBRANCE

Several hundreds of Bosnian people, from several cities gather to commemorate "The White Banner Day" in Western-Bosnian town of Prijedor, on May 31, 2013. During a peaceful gathering and protest walk, people carried banners with slogans "Together For Freedom" (Top) and "A Crime is a crime regardless of how much we keep quiet about It" (Bottom). The protestors demanded that a monument is built in Prijedor to commemorate all civilian casualties, regardless of their nationality or confessional alignment. The White Banner Day is marked to commemorate the day when Bosnian Serb Authorities in Prijedor, in 1992, imposed the decision that all non-Serb population should wear white armbands when in public and all houses belonging to non-Serbs to be marked with a white flag. Disobedience was punishable by death. AFP PHOTO ELVIS BARUKCIC
