Aymaras peasants from Los Yungas block a road in Santa Barbara, 98 Kms North La Paz 03 November 2003. Los Yungas Aymaras natives joined the protest of their Altipano mates against the five-billion-dollar plan to pipe Bolivian gas through Chile for sale to Mexican and US customers. Ten years ago the "Gas War" or the "Gas conflict" as it was known, ended with 60 dead people after riots in La Paz and El Alto and gave way to the indigenous movement led by Evo Morales.
