GERMANY-HISTORY-JEWS-HOLOCAUST
(FILES) A picture dated November, 1938 shows 17-year-old Jewish youth, Herschel Grynszpan (C), escorted by French policemen while leaving a police station in Paris, after being arrested for the murder of German diplomat Ernst Vom Rath. As Germany prepares to mark the 75th anniversary of the Kristallnacht on November 9 and 10, 2013, a new book is shedding light on the murder of vom Rath, whose November 7, 1938 death Nazi leaders seized upon as pretext for the pogrom against the Jewish community. The attacks saw Nazi thugs plunder Jewish businesses throughout Germany, torch synagogues and round up about 30,000 Jewish men for deportation to concentration camps.
