ICOAST-ANIMALS-ELEPHANTS-RESCUE
TO GO WITH AFP STORY BY JORIS FIORITI
Members of a team of the NGO International Fund Animal Welfare (IFAW) shoot images of an elephant released on January 23, 2014 in the Azagny national park, southern Ivory Coast. An operation to displace a dozen elephants from the center to the south of Ivory Coast began on January 19, 2014. According to IFAW, the elephants were forced out of their original homes in Marahoue National Park by human migration possibly related to the West African country's 2010-11 postelection violence. The dozen or so elephants targeted for relocation moved near Daloa two years ago and began wreaking havoc, destroying crops and killing two people including a small boy who accidentally stumbled upon elephant calves, prompting their mother to attack, IFAW said.
