A border dispute stemming from the 19th-century War of the Pacific redefined Peru's and Bolivia's borders, with Peru losing 25 percent of its territory and Bolivia losing access to the sea. In April 2013 Bolivia filed a suit urging the ICJ to force Chile to negotiate an accord granting now-landlocked Bolivia a sovereign corridor to the sea. AFP PHOTO / Jorge Bernal
